Salvadore J. “Sam” Barranco, M.D.

The Barranco Clinic’s founder, Salvadore J. “Sam” Barranco, M.D., was a dedicated physician who exhibited great compassion for his family, patients, employees and community.

Dr. Barranco was born in Lake Wales, Florida on March 6, 1938, to Dr. Anthony Joseph and Fannie DeJohn Barranco. His father was an accomplished family doctor and surgeon who served the Lake Wales Community for many years. He founded the Lake Wales Little League and the Lake Wales baseball field bears the Barranco family name and honors their service to the people of Lake Wales.

Dr. Barranco received his Bachelor of Science at the University of Alabama in 1959. During that time he played football under Coach Bear Bryant. He received his Doctor of Medicine at Tulane University in 1963 and completed his residency in Otolaryngology at Tulane in 1970. From 1963-1964 he served the U.S. Navy as general medical officer. He started his Otolaryngology practice In Winter Haven in 1970 as the only Board Certified Otolaryngologist in the community. (more…)

Ear, nose and throat specialist Elizabeth P. Sundean, has joined the staff of Winter Haven-based Barranco Clinic, an otolaryngology practice with seven offices in Polk, Lake, and Highland counties.

Dr. Sundean, a Winter Haven native, will be working at The Barranco Clinic in Winter Haven, Clermont, Haines City and Ocoee. She earned her medical degree at the University of South Florida in Tampa and did her residency at The University of Buffalo Otolaryngology.

Her experience involves all areas of otolaryngology with special emphasis on facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and endoscopic sinus surgery. She is trained in trauma care for both children and adults.

Barranco offers complete allergy and immunotherapy services, state-of-the-art radiology services with its Siemens Spirit Cat Scanner, hearing services, hearing aid evaluation and sales.

Clinics also are located in Lakeland, Lake Wales and Sebring.

Barranco Clinic now accepts PUP, Physicians United Plan.
