The Barranco Clinic’s founder, Salvadore J. “Sam” Barranco, M.D., was a dedicated physician who exhibited great compassion for his family, patients, employees and community.
Dr. Barranco was born in Lake Wales, Florida on March 6, 1938, to Dr. Anthony Joseph and Fannie DeJohn Barranco. His father was an accomplished family doctor and surgeon who served the Lake Wales Community for many years. He founded the Lake Wales Little League and the Lake Wales baseball field bears the Barranco family name and honors their service to the people of Lake Wales.
Dr. Barranco received his Bachelor of Science at the University of Alabama in 1959. During that time he played football under Coach Bear Bryant. He received his Doctor of Medicine at Tulane University in 1963 and completed his residency in Otolaryngology at Tulane in 1970. From 1963-1964 he served the U.S. Navy as general medical officer. He started his Otolaryngology practice In Winter Haven in 1970 as the only Board Certified Otolaryngologist in the community. (more…)
